Papercut Patterns Nexus Blouse

I've been wanting to make the Papercut Nexus blouse for a while, it seems like the perfect, floaty top to use up smaller lengths of drapey fabric (that I buy a lot of but seem to sit in my stash for ages).

The blouse is really versatile, with different options and different ways to wear it.

The sleeves can be gathered into a cuff, which is the version I made, or there is a hem facing for them to be left billowing. The hem can also be cropped and straight, as seen here, or there is an option for a longer, curved hem.

Finally, the blouse can be worn with the V-neck and buttons to the front or back. I made it thinking I would only wear it conventionally, with the buttons to the front, but actually I really like wearing it 'back to front'.

I made this blouse from a tencel twill that was in my stash. This pattern needs a fabric with plenty of drape and movement, as there are no darts for shaping.

I thought the pattern came together easily and the instructions were clear. I overlocked all my seams, though I think you could French Seam most of them for extra prettiness inside. Sewing with tencel is a little tricky, it can be quite shifty and slippery. I was also concerned about marking this fabric with pins, as it does seem to bruise / pull easily, so I used clips to hold everything together and it worked well.

Overall this was a pretty quick and easy project and I will definitely make it again. I'm going to opt for the billowing sleeves next time.
